The forest edge
Emma followed the animal’s gaze, turning to look at the line of trees where the forest met the dirt road. At first, she didn’t see anything unusual.
But then, shapes began to move out from between the trees, one after another, coming into the light. Emma’s jaw dropped at the sight before her.
