The Second Confrontation
Amanda decided to confront John again. “John, I need to know why you don’t want to get married,” she said one evening. John looked at her, his expression conflicted. “I love you, Amanda. It’s just… marriage is a big step. I’m not sure I’m ready for that responsibility.”

Amanda’s heart ached. “But we love each other. Isn’t that enough?” she pleaded. John sighed. “I need more time.” Amanda nodded, but her doubts remained.
