Amanda’s uncertainty deepened with time. Whenever she tried to talk about their future, John would avoid the topic, leaving her with unanswered questions. After a year together, Amanda finally asked, “Do you ever see us getting married?” hoping for some reassurance.
John glanced away, his face unreadable. “I’m not sure if I’m ready for that level of commitment,” he confessed. His response hit Amanda hard. “But why? We’ve been together for so long,” she pushed, searching for clarity. John simply shrugged, offering no explanation, and Amanda’s unease grew.
