The Cardboard Trojan Horse
Sanitation is key, but it’s not the only factor. Mark’s house was clean. But roaches don’t just eat food. They eat paper, glue, skin flakes, and even soap. You can have a sparkling kitchen and still get roaches if they are brought in from outside—in a cardboard box from a delivery.
In fact, cardboard boxes are a major transport system for roach eggs. The corrugated ripples in the cardboard are the perfect size for an egg case to be hidden. Mark realized he had a pile of Amazon boxes in the garage, waiting to be recycled. He burned them the next day, realizing they were potential Trojan horses.
