Who doesn’t know the legendary Hollywood personality, Frankie Avalon? This singer and actor is a pop icon who has been around since the 1950s. He’s still going strong today, performing concerts all over the world. One of the first manufactured teen stars, Frankie Avalon, was born on September 18, 1940, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
In 1959, his song Venus became his first No. 1 single; the same year, he also put out six more Top 40 singles. Avalon collaborated with pop singer and actress Annette Funicello as the romantic lead in the 1960s hit Beach Party movie series. Back to the Beach, another film made by Avalon and Funicello was released in 1986.
