John started connecting the dots between Max’s behavior and Emily’s nightmares. ‘It’s too much to be a coincidence,’ he suggested during one of their late-night talks.
‘There’s got to be something linking them.’ Emily nodded, though still skeptical. ‘But what could it be?’ she asked.
John didn’t have an answer. ‘I don’t know, but I’m going to find out,’ he said firmly. The determination in his voice reassured her a little.
