Desperate Kicks
Ethan pushed himself up and swung his legs toward the baleen plates. He needed the whale to open its mouth and let him go.
With every ounce of strength, he kicked repeatedly, hoping it would irritate the whale enough to release him. “Come on! Move!”
he yelled into the inky blackness. Each kick reverberated through his body, but the massive animal didn’t budge.
The frustration gnawed at him as he strained against his increasingly tight confines.
