Unusual Demeanor
Jake paused for a moment, his eyes narrowing at something we couldn’t quite see. ‘She doesn’t look right,’ he said, more to himself than to us.
The lioness’s movements were slow, almost labored. ‘You see that?’ my husband whispered, pointing subtly. I nodded, feeling uneasy.
Jake was sensing something off, like a puzzle he couldn’t quite figure out, and it made us all anxious.
Was this a bad sign or just his bravado kicking in?
