One day, out of the blue, Mr. Jenkins turned the conversation to my adopted daughter. ‘Tell me about her,’ he urged, genuine interest in his eyes.
‘She’s amazing, full of life and curiosity,’ I shared, surprised by his sudden involvement. ‘Sounds like she takes after you,’ he commented with a knowing smile.
His questions seemed to probe into my story, but what intentions lay behind his curiosity were unclear.
