Starting The Dialogue
Waiting for her shift to end, I watched Lily moving around, her ease at work contrasting with her earlier tension.
As we sat down to talk, her hesitation was apparent. She shifted her weight, arms crossed and eyes avoiding mine.
“Let’s talk about yesterday,” I began, hoping to open up the dialogue without confrontation. Her guarded stance hinted at untold stories but also at a willingness to engage.
This was personal for both of us.
