Acknowledging Her Efforts
I decided to recognize Lily’s progress in a small but meaningful way. ‘You’re doing great,’ I wrote in a note I left on her locker.
A little encouragement could go a long way, I figured. When she found it later, I caught a glimpse of a smile—there, and then gone.
She carried on, but that small sign of acknowledgment was promising. It was a step toward building more trust between us.
