Encouraging Interaction
As the barbecue went on, I encouraged everyone to mingle and enjoy themselves. It seemed like the perfect chance for Lily to relax.
‘Join in the fun, Lily,’ I prodded gently. She stayed on the sidelines, hesitating, but I noticed her watching others, curiosity mixed with reluctance.
Maybe opening up wasn’t easy for her, but the laughter around seemed to ease her defenses a bit. I hoped she’d find the event welcoming.
