hints from the past
The letter apologized again and mentioned something he had done years ago. I scanned the lines, searching for clarity.
“There are actions I took that affect our present,” he wrote. “I hoped you’d never have to find out, but it seems inevitable now.” My mind swirled with questions.
What had he done? Why hadn’t he told me sooner? The vagueness of his message only deepened my unease.
