Listening to Their Complaints
My appetite vanished the moment the words left his mouth. I slowly lowered my fork to the table and folded my hands in my lap.
There was no point in arguing or trying to change the subject. I simply nodded, indicating that I was ready to hear what they had to say.
They took this as permission to unleash a barrage of grievances. It seemed they had rehearsed this speech, as they took turns speaking without any hesitation or stuttering.
