A Silent and Uncomfortable Dinner
The festive atmosphere was completely absent despite the bright decorations. I walked from the kitchen to the dining room with the heavy platter in my hands.
The golden-brown turkey smelled delicious, but nobody seemed to care about the food. I set the bird down right in the center of the table.
The clinking of the platter against the wood was the only sound in the room. My three children just stared at their empty plates, refusing to look at me.
