Janet’s daughter Lucy had seen the new wedding ring before
“Whatever could you possibly mean by that” Janet exclaimed, quickly pulling back her hand. Before she could completely withdraw it, Lucy took hold of her hand so that she could examine the ring further.
In stunned silence, Lucy traced her thumb over the ring on her mother’s finger. “I mean it, mom,” Lucy says, a sad look on her face.
“I’ve seen this ring before. It isn’t yours.”
