Robert didn’t come empty-handed. He brought bags of groceries and some toys for the kids. “Hey, thought you might need these,” he said, handing Sarah the bags.
The children’s faces brightened as they saw the colorful toys. They giggled and clapped their hands.
“Thank you, Mr. Robert,” Sarah said, her voice filled with gratitude. The joy on the children’s faces made Robert smile, momentarily easing his doubts.
