A second egg broke, then another. The rhythm became relentless, like popcorn bursting over open fire. Within minutes, dozens of shells split wide, jagged edges giving way to life.
Ben’s eyes widened, Clinton gasped audibly. Scaly limbs stretched free from fragile containers, pushing into the hot air. Then, with a jolt, the truth snapped into focus. They weren’t birds or reptiles unknown.
