Tapping on the floor
It was a soft, rhythmic thumping that seemed to be coming from underneath his feet. He walked around the kitchen, tapping on the floor with his foot, trying to pinpoint where the noise was coming from.
As he walked towards the sink, the sound grew louder, and he realized it was coming from the floorboards.
