She explained that she knew little about the man, a fleeting relationship from a difficult time in her life. “It was a complicated period,”
she began, hesitating. “Jacob and I… it wasn’t serious. We were two people going through tough times, and it didn’t last long.”
Alex’s eyes narrowed as if searching for more in her words. “Is there anything you remember that could help?” he pressed.
