Understanding the bigger picture
At this point I realized Alex might not be the true villain, but a pawn in a larger scheme. The depth of his exasperation hinted at a wider network of responsibilities and pressures.
“Who’s pressuring you, Alex?” she asked gently. He exhaled sharply, avoiding her eyes. “It’s complicated. I can’t explain it all now,”
