Yet, he hadn’t told her everything—hadn’t told her about the camera. It was a breach of trust, but in his mind, it was a necessary evil.

Part of him wanted to blurt it out, to admit what he had done and apologize. But another part of him, the part driven by suspicion and doubt, held him back. He would keep it just in case. If he couldn’t get satisfying answers in the house, then he would check them.
