Hesitation
Annie hesitated, her fingers fidgeting with the napkin on her lap. “I know, Thad. It’s just… I’ve been feeling a bit off lately.” Thad felt a pang of frustration and confusion. His wife had just lied to him. “Annie, I’ve given you everything you’ve wanted,” he said, his voice tinged with hurt.
“I’ve supported you, loved you unconditionally. Why can’t you just be honest with me?” Something was definitely wrong. He’d just gotten the confirmation.
