Heading Home
Trying to brush off the embarrassment, I turned and headed toward my car. Each step felt heavy under the weight of their laughter.

I pushed through the crowd, keeping my head up. Inside, I was a volcano ready to explode. I got into my car, slammed the door shut, and for a moment, just sat there, taking deep breaths.
Getting kicked out of my own place was not how I’d imagined tonight going.
