The Slow Fade
It happens gradually. You don’t notice you’re becoming a parent until you’re already doing the job.
It started with “Can you watch him for an hour?” and turned into “Can you put him to bed?”
I fell in love with the routine before I realized the weight of it.
I was changing diapers and reading bedtime stories.
Sarah was often out. She needed “space.” She needed to feel young again.
I just needed Leo to be safe.
