The Picasso Approach
The second drawing was from Jenny, the class intellectual who loved abstract concepts. Mrs. Higgins turned the paper over and stared. It was… interesting. Jenny had drawn Mrs. Higgins, but all her features were rearranged.
One eye was in the middle of her forehead. Her mouth was on her cheek, vertically. Her hair seemed to be floating several inches above her scalp in jagged purple spikes. It was terrifying, yet oddly compelling. “Jenny,” Mrs. Higgins managed, trying to keep her voice steady. “This is very… interpretive. Can you tell me about it?” Jenny stated matter-of-factly, “It’s Picasso style. You said draw what we see, and I see you in many different ways all at once.” Mrs. Higgins nodded slowly. It was weird, but it was “art.” She could handle art.
