The First Reveal – The “Safe” One
The first drawing belonged to sweet little Susie. Mrs. Higgins breathed a sigh of relief. It was standard third-grade fare. The drawing showed a figure composed of a giant circle for a head, two smaller circles for eyes, and a massive curve for a smile. The limbs were squiggly lines protruding directly from the head.
It was cute. It was safe. It was exactly what she had expected. “Oh, Susie, this is lovely! Look how happy I look!” Mrs. Higgins beamed, showing the class. Susie giggled. The teacher relaxed. Okay, this wasn’t going to be so bad. She had worked herself up for nothing. She reached for the second drawing, her confidence restored.
